It's a real trained super-resolution model running in your browser via ONNX Runtime — not a simple resample, though CropShop automatically uses one as a fallback if AI processing isn't supported on your device.
Why can I only upscale one image at a time here?
The before/after comparison is core to how this tool works, and that only makes sense for one photo at a time — every other CropShop tool supports batches, this one's just built differently on purpose.
What's the difference between 2x and 4x?
The model runs at a fixed 4x internally; a 2x request is that same AI-enhanced result scaled back down, so you still get AI-quality detail at the smaller size, not a cheaper shortcut.
Will this fix a really blurry or low-quality photo?
It'll noticeably sharpen and add detail, but no upscaler can invent detail that was never captured in the first place — very degraded sources have a real ceiling.
Does this cost anything or use up credits?
No — there's no tier, no credit system, no catch. The AI engine is just what runs when you click the button.
